Share-Experiences: Indigenous Youth are the new generation leaders of the communities and society

Saraen Eleam the current project staff of CIYA and the former representative of CIYA in Phom Penh from 2019-2022, as permitted from the CIYA President joining the 5th IKPA Conference Celebrating & Anvancing the Power and Leadership of Indigenous Women from 23-27 in North Sumatra Indonesia with 157 participants from 16 countries included 50 Indigenous Women NGOs and 53 Indigenous Group accris Asia. The meeting is a hybrid meeting including in person and online participants and speakers. 

Eventhough, it is her first time at regional woekshop like this, Eleam have done a great job sharing in a panel discussion on ” Looking at the past, present and the future” of the youth in Cambodia as well as in Asia. 

As a youth representative from CIYA, Eleam have shared about an an objective of an establishment of CIYA, the achievement so far, the challenges CIYA has, the solutions strategy that CIYA establishing and the message she has to Indigenous Youth in Cambodia, Asia and the globe. 

The message she has conveyed was, ” Indigenous Youth are the new generation leaders of the communities and society, so be as who you are and more concretly wor hard to to pursue an Indigenity, with solidarity and unity” 

Since the future is your obligatiiom so Indigenous Youth must work hard for both higher education and Indigenous Knowledge education. CIYA proverb said ” Planting in CIYA growing in communities”
